Siemens 8DJH RRL: Medium-Voltage Switchgear Block Explained

The Siemens 8DJH RRL is a panel block type, which belongs to the medium voltage switchgear series of 8DJH. Medium Voltage switchgear series 8DJH is a flexible modular solution for gas-insulated metal enclosed switchgear designed for secondary power distribution at voltage ranges up to 24 kV or higher.

“RRL” is a reference in this case to the type and grouping of the panel block. According to the Siemens documentation, “the 8DJH switchgear can be built up using individual types of panels to combine large units.” The block “RRL” is the grouping for the selection of two ring-main feeders and one circuit breaker feeder, configured in a block width of 1050 mm.

This arrangement is commonly used for Ring Main Unit (RMU) schemes and secondary distribution substations, for which reliable switching and power continuity are critical. As a result of the modular design of the Siemens 8DJH series, it is possible for an engineer to tailor-make his switchgear.
