Intel Security Assist is a background software module created by Intel that frequently comes pre-loaded on Windows computers with Intel architectures. It’s not an antivirus or consumer-grade security solution, as users might initially suspect, but serves as assistance for Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) or similar remote management capabilities.

This allows the facilitating of secure
communication between the firmware of the system and the remote management
consoles in such a way that the system administrators can carry out activities
such as system diagnostics, system updates, and even control of the system's
power — even when the operating system is not running.

For home users in general, Intel Security Assist is not an important component. PCs that do not employ remote management in an enterprise network will not utilize this feature and seem as if this process is running in the background and does not serve any purpose.

Intel Security Assist has background
processes such as isa.exe or isaHelperService.exe, which can be seen in Task
Manager. They are not critical processes needed for the functioning of Windows
but won’t harm the computer either because they are associated with Intel
management technologies and not endpoint security solutions in general.
